As Turkey has not fully fulfilled her obligations arising from the international agreements signed in relation with the protection of research-based pharmaceutical industry in the past, this led to an environment where original and copy drugs are sold together very easily in our country. However, within the framework of Turkey’s membership process to the EU, progress has been achieved in the efforts aimed at remedying the deficiencies in the applications of “intellectual property rights” such as patent and data protection so as to ensure a sound operation of the cycle of original and generic drugs.
